A challan is an official document issued against the vehicle driver if he/she is found violating the traffic rules & regulations. A person is supposed to submit a fine if a traffic challan is released against them. The fine varies according to the type of violation as per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. If the challan is generated electronically through the Electronic Challan System, then it is called an e-challan. An e-challan is an excellent initiative adopted by the Government as it enables better transparency and improved services. The government of MP has also implemented the e-challan system in the state.
